BOXES

This month I have photos of boxes to share from a recent workshop at the Coromandel Guild, first is Ann's box, don't you love how the fabric works out perfectly for her box.

Also attended the workshop, here is her box, she had embroidered all the pieces for it.

Photos to share

First is Ann's lovely piece from this months newsletter. I thought you would enjoy seeing it in a larger photo.

and Heather has sent photos of boxes she has been making here is the first one.

The hexagonal box was  Jane van Kuelins class at  The Great escape. I changed the fabric colour as the pale green spotty fabric did not compliment the colours in the embroidery. Mostly  chain stitch, stem stitch satin stitch and seed stitch. A very enjoyable class. Kits available from Jane. With 5 variegated threads and embellishments included.

I have more photos of Heather's work but will post them later

MORE FROM HEATHER

Heather is teaching hardanger embroidery at the Coromandel Guild this month, she shared with me the sample pieces she stitched for the class.

I have been busy with Hardanger embroidery lately as i am teaching a class in Coromandel in February so needed to get up to speed again having not worked hardanger for a number of years. The photos are 2 pieces i have completed with a 3rd simpler design on the go at the moment. I intend to let people do their own chosen designs or choose one of mine   or part there of. I may be creating a lot of work for myself but think its good to offer a variety when you have a mixed class. I will be persuading those who have not tried Hardanger to choose my simple piece for their first effort. the green hardanger is to be made into a cushion and the  terracotta piece is to be cut in the hexagon shape.

FROM HEATHER

Heather sent me several photos, I will share them later meanwhile I wanted you to see this piece.

Heather writes-The photo this time is of my piece for the guild challenge. “Round and Around”  I was lucky to be awarded 2nd place in the group. The piece that came first was exquisite . Navy fabric with sashiko embroider turned in to a round etui. made up of 4 circular pieces each individually embroidered and fastened together with small sashiko buttons. Trish Hill one of our newer members made it . A very clever article. lovely idea for a special article.

HEATHER'S PHOTOS

I want you to see again two of Heather's photos, so you can really enjoy the perfection of the stitching   These two  I Felt were so special and printing them in the newsletter did not do justice to the workmanship.   Enjoy
